We are thrilled to announce that the Suffolk Downs Master Plan is the recipient of a 2022 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Regional and Urban Design Award. The award recognizes the best in urban design, regional and city planning, and community development.
The Suffolk Downs Master Plan is one of four projects that was selected by the jury for AIA’s 2022 Regional & Urban Design Awards. The projects selected account for the entire built environment, local culture, and available resources—modeling architecture’s promise and true value to communities.
We are extremely honored to receive this award, a major achievement that would not have been possible without the hard work and diligence of our HYM Suffolk Downs team and the coordination with our partners at CBT, Stoss, Beals + Thomas, VHB and Arup and more. We’re also thankful to cities and community members of East Boston and Revere who played a significant role in helping our team to shape and strengthen this master plan. We are incredibly grateful for their vision, ideas, and countless hours of community meetings. Together, we have designed a sustainable, equitable blueprint for the future.
We are excited about the future of Suffolk Downs. We envision it as a place that will bring communities together to work, live and recreate. Suffolk Downs provides a unique opportunity to create fun, engaging open spaces, new housing and spur economic development through a mix of uses. We are excited to continue working with our partners and the community on this project and are grateful to AIA for their esteemed recognition.
